Foreword (from exhibition)

There is a need of bringing great creative people together and starting workshops and giving out information that serves mankind and not only work with graphic design as merely a part of the advertising business.

As communicators we have abilities to do good and express our fully potential. My aim is to work with graphic design on two levels; as advertising and as art. As art I seek to express universal harmony between opposites. Piet Mondrian created this philosophy for almost 100 years ago, so there is nothing new. We feel attracted to some graphic design and others not. I believe it is because that object that attracts has a harmony between light–shadow, large–small and position between these elements mentioned. It reminds us about harmony witch all things strive for and It is an representation of all lives essence. And that makes us feel something, yet we can not put words to what attracts our intention. Because it’s not one element, it’s an interaction between them all.

As designers we need to ask ourselves; What is graphic design? What is fashion? What is industrial design? What is architecture? What is photography? We need to go deeper in our profession and become perfectionists seeking to express truths not only what attracts us for the moment.

We need to come together and discuss more about the philosophy of our work. What are we afraid of? We give praise to Bauhaus and at the same time we call them naive for there great visions! If they where naive, how come we see there work and spirit in every field of creation today?

I believe that there is a need for philosophy in this time when we are constantly fed with advertising that is calling us to change our exterior. We need something that helps us to relax and make us think and in this sense grow as human beings.
These artists presented in this magazine all have something great to communicate that goes far beyond the immediate and obvious.
